Best Ideas For A Winter Date On A Budget In Denver

Posted on January 23 2017

For most people, winter is a time of shorter days, colder nights and less outside time.  Coming off the holidays with Valentine's Day just around the corner, alot of couples are watching their spending as well.  That doesn't mean you can't have an amazing date!  Below are five of the top date ideas to enjoy the outside city life in the winter with your significant other without breaking the bank.

Picnic and Sunset Walk – Mile High Trail at sunset Total Cost - $45

First stop off at The Truffle Cheese Shop and grab one of their amazing picnic baskets, that you preordered;)  The cost is $40 for 2 people.  Pack up a thermos of hot chocolate from home and head over to City Park.  The Mile High Trail at City Park is often kept clear and free of ice, thanks to Denver’s Parks and Recreation team. Located just east of downtown, a walk around the loop provides a striking view of Denver’s skyline. Watch as the city lights start to twinkle with the alpenglow of the mountains in the background and appreciate the best of both worlds – the city and the outdoors.

Snow Shoe around Cheesman Park  - Total Cost $70

Stop by Colorado Sports Rent for snowshoes, the cost is $12/pp for the day, and head over to Cheeseman Park for a little morning show shoe action.  Cheeseman Park is in Denver’s ever-trending Capitol Hill neighborhood, and an ideal place for city cross country skiing or snowshoeing. After you've exhausted yourselves indulge in some of Denver's best brunch at Jelly Cafe.  It's delicious and trendy, so you're sure to impress without breaking the bank.

Southwest Rink at Skyline Park - Total Cost $10

The ice rink at Skyline Park is time restricted and worth fighting the crowds for. Ice skating is the quintessential winter date idea, and Skyline Park goes easy on your budget providing you with $2 rental skates and free skate time. With the rink being in the heart of downtown, you’ll be able to warm up after with a cozy cocktail or hot chocolate at one of the several surrounding bar stools.

Cozy Up In Littleton - Total Cost $16

Grab your date and head over to the Littleton Historical Musem.  This little gem is free!  It's a working 1800's farm packed with history and even a few farm animals.  Walk the path and spend some time getting to know each other.  After you have finished, head to historic downtown Littleton for a little wine tasting at Legacy Vineyards.  You can both enjoy 5 tastings for only $8 per person.

Enjoy Some Time On South Broadway - Total Cost $70

Start your evening with one of the highly tours at Laws Distillery.  At $10 per person you get an in depth look at whiskey making and a formal whiskey tasting.  After that, you're not far from Adelita's Cantina.  This is our favorite casual stop this side of town.  Order the molcajete which is plenty for 2 people, amazing and crave worthy, and only $26.  With a margarita or 2 we suspect your bill should be pushing $50 after tip.
