If you're anything like my husband and I, you don't always want to go to the trendiest spots. Sure, sometimes that's fun, but more often we just want low key time to enjoy one another. With that said, we decided to release some of our favorite hidden gem spots - not all though! We have to keep a few in our back pocket. Need a new gem of your own? It's time to book your personalized date night
. We promise that you'll love what we come up with.
1. Cherry Hills Sushi
Intimate, delicious, cost effective. We love Cherry Hills for those last minute dates when we want to feel like we're splurging.. . without actually breaking the bank. Located off Hampden in South Denver on the Englewood border, the have only a chef's counter and a limited, but perfect menu for any sushi lover. Try the sake flights!
2. Lumber Baron Inn
In case we haven't said it enough, this Highlands gem tucked into the neighborhood at 37th and Bryant, is a great place to sneak away (Thursday- Sunday) for a 3 course chef's dinner. The cost is $45 per person and the food is amazing! Don't take my word for it, try it yourself. More than just a dinner, they also serve as a B&B for those who need more than a couple of hours away.
Located in West Wash Park just east of the Broadway strip. They specialize in small plates made to share. The menu is eclectic, unique, and always delicious! I'm still dreaming about those goat cheese stuffed raviolis.
4. Esters Neighborhood Pub
This is my pick for family night. Great food, huge beer selection, and on Tuesdays they have family night. Kids eat free and balloon animals all around! My kids love this gem. It's hidden in the Virginia Village neighborhood and owned by a local couple whose love for this place is evident when you walk in. The menu, venue, even the bathrooms are super thoughtful and unique.
5. La Cour Bistro and Art Bar
Located on South Broadway, you would never guess how awesome this blue building is inside when you drive by. They have a vintage feel and offer live jazz in an intimate setting Tuesday - Sunday. Make sure you book a reservation in advance, with limited tables they book out.
6. To The Wind Bistro
This Colfax gem is hidden for sure. Inside a strip next to The Bluebird, blink and you'll miss it. With all of maybe 8 tables and a strict no reservation policy, it's worth any wait. The locally owned French eatery centers their menu around whiskey! What better?! Don't miss the bone marrow appetizer followed by a shot of, you guessed it, whiskey to luge down the empty bone... seriously, we did it. They have upscale food in an intimate and relaxed setting.
7. The Populist
Maybe you've heard of it, it is located in hot RiNo afterall but have you tried it? This is our number 1 pick for patio during the warmer months and tops the list for chef's tasting menus. They offer 7 courses for only $80 per couple. Want her to feel like you went big? This is the place.
8. The Cruise Room
Located in the Oxford Hotel, this was Denver's first prohibition bar and they've done an amazing job keeping that vibe. There have been stories of ghosts passing through this bar with the hotel's long history. Grab one of their craft cocktails and ask about the bartender about the ghost cowboy who haunts the halls.
Overwhelmed yet? That's why we're here. Stop procrastinating and give us 5 minutes. Tell us what you want (budget, vibe, etc) and we'll do the rest. We'll put together a custom, 3 stop itinerary and book all of your reservations. There are no excuses left.
